Information You Choose to Send
Search entries
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Polk County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's policy controls its handling of the query.
Messages
When a visitor sends an email or contact message, the supplied details are retained as needed to read and answer it. They are not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data and Cookies

- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device class and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring page or site
- Date and time stamps
Cookie controls
Cookies help measure use and support site functions. A browser can block or remove them, though a search, preference, or advertising feature may then work differently.
Reasons Data Is Used
Collected data may be used to:
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable speed

Official and Outside Links
Links lead to Polk County sheriff records, North Carolina correctional and court portals, federal locators, and outside search services. After a visitor follows a link, the destination's own privacy policy applies.
Advertising providers may use their systems to measure activity across multiple sites and select ads. Polk County Released Inmates does not control that outside tracking.
Parties That May Receive Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited information may still be provided to:
- Search partners that must process a submitted query
- Analytics vendors that measure site use
- Advertising networks that deliver ads
- Law enforcement or another public body responding to a valid legal order
Reasonable Security Measures
Standard safeguards are used to reduce unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system connected to the internet is fully secure, so the site cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
